Scientist from the Poznań University of Technology receives dignity and insignia of the Officer of French Academic Palms

Prof. Roman Słowiński from the Institute of Computer Science at the Poznań University of Technology, a vice-president of the Polish Academy of Sciences, became an Officer of the French Academic Palms. The ceremony of presenting the insignia awarded by the Prime Minister of the French Republic took place at the French Embassy in Warsaw.

During the ceremony, the ambassador Frédéric Billet stated that Prof. Słowiński’s links to France date back to the 1980s when he worked at the University of Paris-Dauphine. This cooperation resulted in the birth of the Department of Intelligent Decision Support Systems at the Poznań University of Technology. Prof. Słowiński develops new computer systems, which are important for the improvement of management tools thanks to the use of innovative techniques.

The Order of Academic Palms is one of the oldest French civil symbols. It is awarded to outstanding scientists and figures from culture and education. It was established in 1808 by Napoleon Bonaparte as an honorary title awarded to distinguished professors of the University of Paris.
