25.11.2021

Prof.  Przemysław Marciniak from the University of Silesia and Prof. Johannes Pahlitzsch from Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz will implement the project “Die Byzantiner und die Natur” (“Byzantines and nature”). They obtained a research grant from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation.

The three-year project (2022-2025) involves cooperation with the Institute of Byzantine Studies at the University of Mainz. It will research animals and nature in Byzantine culture (330-1453). Activities planned under the grant will include organization of workshops in Katowice, an international conference in Mainz, as well as travel scholarships for members of the research group of Prof. Marciniak.

Project funding was granted under the Research Group Linkage Program. This tool aims to create a space for long-term international academic cooperation between graduates of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation programs and scientists in Germany.
