Scientists from Poland, the Netherlands and Spain looking for the best method of obtaining hydrogen from water

29.07.2021

Scientists from Poland, the Netherlands and Spain are studying the processes in the catalyst leading to the production of hydrogen fuel. They are using advanced methods of computational chemistry to find the most effective method of extracting hydrogen from water. The project researchers include scientists from the Wrocław University of Science and Technology.

Chemists from the Wrocław university, Dr Eng. Bartłomiej Szyja and Dr Agata Podsiadły-Paszkowska are designing a special catalyst for the production of hydrogen fuel, in which the reaction of generating hydrogen from water could take place under the influence of sunlight.

The consortium includes research groups from the Wrocław University of Science and Technology, the Dutch Institute for Fundamental Energy Research in Eindhoven and Technische Universiteit Delft (the Netherlands) and Universidad Pablo de Olavide from Seville (Spain). The research is coordinated by the Institute in Eindhoven. The project is financed by the European Union and the National Science Center.
