Scientists of Łukasiewicz Net created a Polish line for the production of medical masks

19.11.2020

Scientists and engineers of Łukasiewicz Net constructed from scratch lines producing medical masks of Polish raw materials. The project consortium consists of representatives of the Institute of Biopolymers and Chemical Fibers (IBWCh) in Łódź and the Tele and Radio Research Institute (ITR) in Warsaw.

The project team led by Małgorzata Zwolińska, deputy director of Łukasiewicz – IBWCh and Marcin Kiełbasiński – Head of the Industrial Technologies Research Center from Łukasiewicz-ITR, has created a Polish production line using ultrasonic welding technology to produce medical masks with high filtration capacity.

When constructing the welding lines, the engineers used specialized transducers and the latest class ultrasonic generators, developed and manufactured entirely in Łukasiewicz-ITR. They also implemented 12 own, patented solutions in order to ensure the highest quality and reliability of devices. The method of welding and ultrasonic cutting in the technological line is safe for the environment, energy-saving and does not generate harmful substances.
