Secure quantum dots

07.02.2018

Researchers from the Institute of Physical Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw and the Faculty of Chemistry of the Warsaw University of Technology have developed an innovative method of producing quantum dots of zinc oxide, one of the most commonly used nanomaterials.

New ZnO nanoparticles are safe. They can be introduced into biological and medical laboratories, e. g. for imaging processes or applied in materials exposed to humans, like paints. Such solutions are carried out, among others in the NANOXO start-up company.

The research was financed by the Foundation for Polish Science and the National Science Center. The results were published in the well-known scientific journal “Chemistry – A European Journal”  with participation of Krakow scientists from the Jagiellonian University. (kp)
