15.07.2021

The Silesian Water Center of the University of Silesia in Katowice, in cooperation with the Why Not Foundation, is organizing a research expedition from the sources to the mouth of the Vistula. The research results will be used to define the needs and challenges for the clean Vistula.

The aim of the expedition is a comprehensive analysis of the variability of air and water quality parameters in the Vistula River over almost 1000 km of its course, as well as promoting health and supporting and disseminating physical culture.

In the expedition, the Silesian university provides specialist measuring equipment and the competencies of an interdisciplinary group of scientists: hydrologists, chemists and biologists. The project, inspired by scientific challenges, includes river rafting and multi-parameter measurements as well as sampling for laboratory tests. Some of the results will be available online on a specially created map of the expedition.
