Silesian University of Technology joins a simulated manned space mission

Representatives of the Silesian University of Technology will take part in the simulation of a manned space mission at the LunAres research facility. This year’s mission of Habitat LunAres takes place under the patronage of the rector of the Silesian University of Technology and the Minister of Health.

One of the participants of the mission is Wiktoria Dziaduła, a student of the Faculty of Architecture, who will carry out work on checking the solutions used in the space station in terms of their usability and the possibility of satisfying the needs of its inhabitants. Scientists of the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering of the Silesian University will perform tests to check the biomechanics of the participants’ locomotor system and the impact of insulation on physical fitness.

The Habitat LunAres is a research facility located in Piła, used to simulate space missions. It is the only facility of this type in Europe. Completely isolated from the external environment, it consists of 7 modules for various activities and everyday life, as well as 250 sq km for “space walks”.
