The Silesian University of Technology will participate in the international EuReCOMP project. Its goal is to develop sustainable methods of recycling and reusing composite materials. The project consortium consists of 25 partners, the leader is the Greek National University of Technology in Athens.

The main goal of the project is to provide sustainable methods of recycling and reusing composite materials, derived from components used in various industries such as aeronautics and wind energy.

“EuReCOMP fills the existing gap in the management of waste generated by the removed FRP (fiber-reinforced polymer matrix composite materials) from the wind energy and aeronautics sectors. Moving in this direction, the phased-out parts of airplanes and wind blades will be used as new sources of chemical and material recycling”, says project coordinator Prof. Sebastian Werle.
