Dr Katarzyna Turoń from the Faculty of Transport and Aeronautical Engineering at the Silesian University of Technology has won the award of Division IV of Technical Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences. This is an award for young scientists for a published creative scientific work (or series of works) in technical sciences.

The award was given for a doctoral thesis on the topic of selecting the right type of short-term car rental service systems to meet the needs of urban areas. The thesis supports the solution to the problem of inadequately implemented or functioning car-sharing services in Poland and contributes to the development of modern mobility and the transformation taking place in the individual car market.

“This was the only award-winning work that is dedicated to the subject of transport. I am very pleased that it has been recognised, especially as we are currently facing a revolution in transport, which requires advanced research”, says the winner.
