11.08.2020

Damian Wieczorek, a student of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Robotics of the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow, created UNIKEY tool for contactless opening of doors and holding handrails and handles in public transport.

The innovative solution was created during the coronavirus pandemic. Thanks to the device, users can reduce the risk of contact with door handles or surfaces that are often touched in public places, and thus limit the spread of bacteria and viruses.

The creator of the solution explains that the unique feature of the tool distinguishing it from similar solutions on the market, is the ability to press the handle and operate the door simultaneously.

The item was made of high-quality plastic – polyacetal. It is also biocompatible material that is used for dentures, implants, and surgical instruments and it is resistant to disinfectants. The tool is entirely made in Poland and has already appeared on the market.
