Tomasz Pulanecki, a student of the Faculty of Medicine of the Jagiellonian University Collegium Medicum (UJ CM), won the Digital Health “Application of 3D printing, augmented reality / virtual reality in cardiology, interventional cardiology and cardiovascular imaging” competition organized as part of the New Fronteries in Interventional Cardiology conference.

Young doctors and biomedical engineers interested in innovative solutions in medicine were invited to participate in the competition.

They were required to prepare an English-language essay on one of two topics: “Application of artificial intelligence in cardiology and interventional cardiology” or “Application of 3D printing, augmented reality / virtual reality in cardiology and interventional cardiology”, in which they deal with the proposed implementation solutions of the above technology for wide use in the field of cardiology and interventional cardiology. The most important evaluation criteria included were: innovation, speed and ease of implementation of the proposed solution and the level of its comprehensiveness.

The winner of the competition was Tomasz Pulanecki, who presented the work entitled “Tissue engineered 3D printing in patient-specific aortic aneurysm (AA) management”.
