Students and employees of the University of Wrocław, specialists in archeology and forensic archeology will help in the search for the American B-17 bomber shot down in March 1945 near Jordanów in Lower Silesia.

The scholars involved in the project are primarily concerned with finding the bodies of fallen crew members. Field activities on behalf of the US government agency DPAA (Defense POW / MIA Accounting Agency in the US Department of Defense), whose mission is to recover US military personnel, was conducted by Alta Archaeological Consulting LLC.

The discovered human remains will be sent for further laboratory tests in the USA, while the obtained fragments of the downed plane and its equipment will be presented in 2022 at the Archaeological Museum in Wrocław at a specially prepared exhibition. The exploration work will continue next year.
