Three students from the Jan III Sobieski School Complex No. 6 in Jastrzębie-Zdrój are carrying out a research project in cooperation with the chemistry faculty of the Silesian University of Technology. The students are studying the kinetics of the reaction of copper with nitric acid(V) under different conditions of concentration and temperature.

Emilia Basiura, a 4th grade student at the technical secondary school, Anna Leśny, a 3rd grade student at the technical secondary school, and Patryk Olejniczak, a 4th grade student at the technical secondary school, have already achieved their first successes. In the last edition of the International Warsaw Invention Show (IWIS 2022), they won the gold medal.

“This research is very interesting for us, as it allows us to understand how different factors affect the speed of a chemical reaction. We have the opportunity to study how the final product changes depending on concentration and temperature conditions. It is also a great opportunity to learn new research techniques and data analysis methods, as well as to learn how to interpret research results,” say the young researchers.
