5th Conference for Rectors of Universities under the Baltic University Program

In February 2018 Turku (Finland) hosted the 5th Conference of Rectors of higher education institutions cooperating in the Baltic University Program. The University of Turku invited more than 150 representatives from 74 universities and colleges from the Baltic Sea region. Poland was represented by 35 representatives from 24 universities. The program center for Poland is located at the Lodz University of Technology and has been operating for 18 years.

The Baltic University program focuses on the issues of sustainable development, environmental protection and democracy in the Baltic Sea region. The participants of the Baltic University Program are universities located in the countries of the Baltic region. Apart from countries directly located on the Baltic Sea, the network includes: Belarus, Ukraine, the Czech Republic and Norway.

The program includes all types of universities – humanities, technical, higher pedagogical and economic schools, agricultural and medical academies as well as other higher education institutions and research and scientific organizations.
In July 2018, Poland starts a six-month rotating presidency in the Baltic University Program.
