On Monday 3 October, the new TVP Science television channel will be launched. It will be available on the experimental multiplex of Telewizja Polska (TVP), cable networks, including Vectra and Toya. The channel is expected to be broadcast by satellite system in the future.
TVP CEO Mateusz Matyszkowicz said that a place for TVP Science in the TV family had been pending for a long time. “We have a children’s channel, a women’s channel, there was no science, and it is, after all, obvious that part of the mission of public television is to reach viewers with popular science programmes”, added Matyszkowicz.
The programme offer of the new station will include scientific events, presentation of the achievements of Polish and world scientists in science, life sciences, technology, ecology, medicine, earth sciences and social sciences. Viewers will also be able to watch documentaries.
On the first day, TVP Nauka will broadcast “live” the announcement of this year’s Nobel Prize winners in physiology and medicine.
