Vice-Rector of the Jagiellonian University met with the European Commissioner for Innovation and Youth

Professor Stanisław Kistryn – Vice-Rector of the Jagiellonian University for Research and Structural Funds, met with Commissioner Marija Gabriel and took part in the debate “A New Vision for the European Higher Education Sector”.

Marija Gabriel is a member of the European Commission, who from December 1 acts as Commissioner for Innovation and Youth, responsible also for the research and higher education sector. Vice-Rector Prof. Kistryn is also a co-founder of The Guild of European Research – Intensive Universities and a representative of the association of European universities UNA Europa.

During the meeting, they discussed important issues concerning matters of European University initiatives, problems of differences in the participation of EU-15 and EU-13 countries in Horizon 2020 programs and prospects for reducing these disparities in Horizon Europe.
They also talked about funding scientific research from European, national funds, and initiatives supporting international cooperation with countries outside the EU.
