West Pomeranian University of Technology constructs a new animal facility

28.07.2020

The construction of the university animal facility for the department of biotechnology and animal breeding at the West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin has been completed. The facility is targeted mainly for students, but it will be also available to be used by primary and secondary school students as well as inhabitants of Szczecin.

From October, students of the faculty will participate in practical classes with sheep, goats, emus, hens, guinea fowl, peacocks, pigeons and bees. Direct contact with animals will enable them learning about the methods of keeping, caring and assessing the condition of animals. The livestock and educational building will cost the university 6.1 million PLN.

The implemented study programs include field classes and apprenticeships in typical farms for animal production. Having an animal facility on site will certainly contribute to making the classes more attractive and will improve the quality of education.
