Wrocław University of Science and Technology to develop a system that detects sources of deliberate disinformation

30.07.2021

Scientists from the Faculty of Electronics at the Wrocław University of Science and Technology will develop a system that detects the sources of deliberate disinformation. They received over PLN 8.6 million from the National Center for Research and Development for the SWAROG (Artificial Intelligence Disinformation Detection System) project.

The funding was granted under the Strategic Program for Scientific Research and Development “Advanced information, telecommunications and mechatronic technologies” – Infostrateg I. The project consortium also includes the MATIC Joint Stock Company and the University of Technology and Life Sciences in Bydgoszcz.

– We know from the available literature on the subject, to which we have contributed a bit in recent years of research, that the implementation of an automatic fake news detection system is possible, but its basic limitation is the difficulty in obtaining relevant data to develop a reliable predictive system – says Dr Paweł Ksieniewicz from the Department of Computer Systems and Networks.
