Wrocław University of Science and Technology to develop the system for modeling currents, waves and water quality

06.09.2021

Dr Eng. Agnieszka Olbert-Dąbrowska will create an innovative system for modeling currents, waves and water quality in the Baltic Sea basin. She will conduct her research at the Faculty of Environmental Engineering of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology as part of the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange program “Polish Returns”.

The project will be implemented in cooperation with foreign institutions: including the National University of Ireland Galway, Max Planck Institute Hamburg, Cardiff University and Sun Yat-sen University, as well as Polish – Institute of Meteorology and Water Management and the University of Szczecin.

The collected data will help to understand local circulation, extreme sea levels and their impact on flood hazards as well as pollution transport and local water quality. The acquired knowledge will serve the effective management of coastal infrastructure, the development of services in the field of renewable marine energy sources, tourism and fisheries, and the protection of the Baltic marine environment.
