Applications can be submitted until 20 May 2023 for the Eastern Summer School, which has been organised since 1992 by the Centre for East European Studies at the University of Warsaw (UW).

This year’s Eastern Summer School will take place from 30 June to 16 July. The event gathers annually about 20 listeners – young researchers from various fields of the humanities.

Participants of the School cannot come from Poland. The School is intended for listeners from the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, the Balkans, Central Asia and the Caucasus. Its aim is to provide an opportunity to learn about the state of science, new circles and prominent scholars, gain an orientation in the resources of Polish archives and libraries. The School does not provide opportunities for independent research work; rather, it prepares students for future, longer research stays in Poland.

Lectures are given by a changing group of eminent specialists, coming from Poland, Western Europe and America. The programme of the School consists of a series of lectures, seminars (several thematic blocks to choose from), study tours and presentations of institutes, libraries and archives.
