XXIII International Congress of Historical Sciences postponed by a year

22.06.2020

The 23rd International Congress of Historical Sciences, co-organized by the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan, will take place next year, not, as planned, in August this year due to the pandemic.

The Congress will start on August 22, 2021 and will last until August 28. The Congress Center will be located in the Zamek Culture Center, historians will also meet at Collegium Minus, Collegium Maius and Collegium Novum of the Poznań University and in the Poznań International Fair as well as at the headquarters of the Faculty of History in Morasko.

About 70 different panels are to be held during the congress with 15 so-called Joint Sessions, about 20 Round Tables, as well as about 30 specialized sessions.

The first meeting of historians from around the world took place in Paris in 1900. Since then, congresses have been held mostly every five years. Poland was the host only once, in 1933, when historians met in Warsaw.
