3D Printing Center of the Koszalin University of Technology prints protective helmets for rescuers

27.03.2020

Protective helmets for rescuers are created at the 3D Printing Center of the Koszalin University of Technology. On average, the center produces about 30 item every day. They are used by the city guard, whose officers need security in dealing with quarantined people while passing on their purchases.

– We are printing the upper and lower parts of the face shield, according to a design approved by the Czech Ministry of Health for a coronavirus pandemic. And what cannot be printed is cut out with a laser, using the equipment of the Faculty of Architecture and Design – says Dr Eng. Tomasz Królikowski, Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and head of the center.

Helmets can also be used by doctors, nurses, paramedics and volunteers – people who look after quarantined patients. The first delivery will be transferred to the Provincial Hospital in Koszalin in the coming days.
