The Silesian Water Center of the University of Silesia and the Department of Engineering and Water Management of the Krakow University of Technology invite participants to the scientific conference on “Silesian Channel and Waterway of the Upper Vistula – opportunities and challenges”.

Participants will discuss the planned development of inland waterway transport in Poland as an opportunity for the diversification of transport. The conference include the history of the Silesian Channel and the Waterway of the Upper Vistula – goals, routes, stage of completion, class and stock, as well as the planned scope of works; hydrological and hydrotechnical conditions and water management for its functioning as well as present and future spatial conditions with the indication of strategic nodes.

The organizers also plan to discuss the economic effects of the construction of the Silesian Channel, the modernization of the Upper Vistula Waterway and the principles of cooperation of the industry environment with government institutions and local self-government.
