Father Adam Boniecki to receive honorary doctorate from Lodz University

The Senate of the University of Lodz has decided to award the title of doctor honoris causa to Father Adam Boniecki. The ceremony will take place on April 12, 2018 at the Faculty of Philology at the Łódź University. The resolution has been adopted by the reviewers – lecturers of the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University, the University of Warsaw and the University of Lodz.

Father Adam Edward Fredro-Boniecki was born on July 25, 1934 in Warsaw. He studied philosophy at the Catholic University of Lublin and at the Paris Catholic Institute. He is a publicist and the former editor-in-chief of the Tygodnik Powszechny. He worked for it since 1964 when the Polish bishop Karol Wojtyla asked him to cooperate. Wojtyla, as Pope John Paul II, again invited Father Boniecki to write in another magazine – L’Osservatore Romano. Father Adam Boniecki is also a laureate of many awards and distinctions, including the Kisiel Award, the Ecce Homo Order, the Gold Medal “Gloria Artis” and the Dariusz Fikus Award for publishers.

The promoter of his honorary doctorate is Professor Barbara Bogołębska from the Faculty of Philology of the University of Lodz.
