Four Polish researchers became the most cited scientists in the world

Four Polish scientists have been included in the latest Clarivate Analytics ranking – a prestigious list of the most cited scientists in the world.

The Clarivate Analytics Highly Cited Researchers 2019 ranking (formerly Thomson Reuters) is an updated list of the most-cited scientists of the world yearly.

The list is created as a result of the analysis of the number of citations, which is one of the measures of the publication’s value and shows how much the scientific work of individual researchers supports and inspires other scientists around the world.

This year only four Poles were included in the ranking: chemist Prof. Jacek Namieśnik, the rector of the Gdańsk University of Technology who died in June and three cardiologists: Prof. Piotr Ponikowski, head of the Department of Heart Diseases, Faculty of Health Sciences, Medical University of Silesian Piasts in Wroclaw, Prof. Adam Torbicki, head of the Department of Pulmonary Circulatory, Thromboembolic Diseases and Cardiology CMKP at the European Health Center in Otwock and Prof. Michał Tendera from the Cardiology and Structural Heart Clinic of the Medical Faculty of the Silesian Medical University in Katowice.
