Students of the Silesian University of Technology associated in the Inter-Faculty Scientific Society of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles “High Flyers” are flying to California for the SAE AeroDesign competition. They will compete with 74 teams from around the world.

The competition consists in designing and building an unmanned aircraft with the highest possible lifting capacity, and then completing the competition flight. The following tasks are evaluated: technical documentation prepared by the team during preparations, technical presentation during the competition and competition flight – transporting cargo of the largest possible mass and precise discharge of its part for the purpose indicated.

The High Flyers team will take part in the SAE AeroDesign competition for the first time. However, the university team has already started successfully in similar professions. In 2011, 2013, 2015, young engineers took part in the Air Cargo Challenge in Europe.
