PhD student of the University of Economics in Poznan awarded a scholarship under W. Iwanowska program

Piotr Matuszak, PhD student at the Department of Macroeconomics and Research on Development at the University of Economics in Poznan, received the W. Iwanowska scholarship for a 7-month trip to the Free University in Berlin from the National Agency for Academic Exchange.

The aim of the Program is to increase the international mobility of PhD students of Polish universities by enabling them to conduct research or teaching in the best foreign centers. Trips last from 6 to 12 months and they provide an opportunity for stays in recognized scientific centers and the implementation of research projects together with outstanding foreign scientists.

Professor Wilhelmina Iwanowska from the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń was the founder of the Astronomical Observatory in Piwnice near Toruń and the first woman- member of the board of the International Astronomical Union. She promoted 19 doctors, and 8 of them obtained the professor titles. She was an honorary doctor of three universities.
