Physicists from the University of Bialystok discovered new possibilities for photomagnetic 3D recording

08.02.2019

Physicists from the University of Bialystok (UwB) have discovered new possibilities of photomagnetic 3D recording, and the results of their research have just been published by the journal Nature Communications.

The results of research conducted by an international team of physicists, under the supervision of Dr Andrzej Stupakiewicz from the Department of Physics of Magnetics, Faculty of Physics, was published in the prestigious journal Nature Communications. The scientists presented a new concept of selective ultrafast record of magnetic cells in a layer of pomegranate with an admixture of cobalt ions. The recording takes place using only ultra-short laser pulses with a combination of optical parameters such as polarization, wavelength and intensity of light. As Dr Andrzej Stupakiewicz emphasizes, this unique opportunity opens the way to “photomagnetic 3D recording”, which would allow even more efficient use of light to record information in digital memories.
