Poles win the SmartMoto Challenge competition in Wroclaw

Teams of Wrocław and Katowice technical universities won the international competition of SmartMoto Challenge electric motorcycles in Wrocław. It was the first event of this type in Poland. Previously, the SmartMoto Challenge competition took place in Barcelona and Moscow.

Seven motorcycles from three Polish and one Russian universities were registered for the three-day competition in Wrocław. The competition was held in two classes – vehicles with a power of 30 kW, in which LEM Thunder from the Wrocław University of Technology won and 8 kW vehicle, where Elektra of the team of the Silesian University of Technology triumphed.

In the SmartMoto Challenge competition teams from universities compete, design and construct a cross-country motorcycle from scratch. The main purpose of the competition is to use the knowledge gained during the studies in a real industrial project. During the competition, the motorcycle is assessed by its dynamic and static capabilities as well as the team’s skills in business aspects.
