Polish Sociological Congress in Wroclaw to talk about the most important social problems

23.09.2019

Over a thousand scientists from Poland and abroad, including the presidents of global sociological societies Prof. Sari Hanafi from ISA, Prof. Marta Soler Gallart from ESA, Prof. Christine Williams from ASA and sociologists from the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Ukraine, participated in the 17th National Sociological Congress in Wroclaw.

At twelve symposia in more than 90 thematic groups, sociologists discussed the most important contemporary social problems and the role of sociology and sociologists here and now.

The research community notes that many burning social issues like the negative consequences of migration processes, climate disaster, social injustice are not resolved, and political mechanisms are blocking rather than supporting the processes of dealing with problems. This promotes a sense of helplessness and irrational reactions observable at the individual and collective level.
