Professor John Maxwell Coetzee becomes doctor honoris causa of the University of Silesia

Professor John Maxwell Coetzee will receive the title of doctor honoris causa of the University of Silesia in Katowice. The award ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday, October 23 in the Hall 5 of the Faculty of Law and Administration. The Council of the Faculty of Philology applied for the title on behalf of Professor Coetzee.

Professor John Maxwell Coetzee is one of the greatest contemporary writers, winner of the Nobel Prize for literature (2003), two-time winner of the Booker Prize in 1983 and 1999 – and other prestigious literary prizes. He is a laureate of the highest distinction of South Africa, professor of literature, honorary member of the research center of his name at the University of Adelaide and a respected literary scholar and translator.
