Project of Wroclaw students awarded in the competition eVolo 2019 Skyscraper Competition

09.05.2019

The project of a skyscraper cleansing the ocean of rubbish designed by students of the architecture faculty of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology was awarded as one of the 30 best works in the competition eVolo 2019 Skyscraper Competition.

The project of Wroclaw students would have a huge, floating piston, pressing waste directly in the water. It would take away only the most contaminated water without using pumps or underpressure. The only force pressing the garbage would be gravity.

Then a press with a diameter of more than 4.5 meters would crush the garbage, thus forming discs whose height would depend on the density and type of waste. Then the garbage would go to a special buffer to be picked up by the ship and destined for utilization.

478 works were submitted to this year’s competition. The jury selected three finalists and awarded 27 prizes. The Wrocław prized students are Szymon Ciupiński, Karol Łącki and Dominik Pierzchlewicz.
