Researcher at the Gdańsk University of Technology receives Diamond Grant for phosphine research

14.10.2019

Krzysztof Pyrchla, PhD student at the Gdańsk University of Technology Doctoral School has won the Diamond Grant competition and will receive 220,000 PLN for the implementation of the first independent research project “Research on the impact of deformation on optoelectronic parameters of phosphorus nanostructures using quantum mechanics methods”.

The aim of the research is to design sensory structures that will be used to develop research and measuring devices using phenomena occurring at the nanoscale and enabling measurements of gravitational acceleration or mass of nanoobjects.

Research will be conducted with use of quantum mechanics methods. Due to the chemical instability of phosphorus and the high costs of its synthesis, the effects of the project will be implemented experimentally in the final stages of implementation, in cooperation with experimental groups in the USA and China.
