Researcher of the University of Silesia becomes a member of the Program Council of the Polish Academy of Sciences Science Center in Paris

Professor Wiesław Banyś, director of the Institute of Romance Languages and Translation Studies at the Faculty of Philology of the University of Silesia, was appointed to the Program Council of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Paris for the term 2019-2022.

The Scientific Station of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Paris is a scientific organization with more than 100 years of tradition. The institution cooperates with such centers as the French Academy of Sciences (Académie des Sciences de l’Institut de France), Center National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) and UNESCO . Its main tasks are the promotion of Polish science, the development of Polish-French scientific cooperation and the help of Polish scientists, scholars and students in France.

Professor Banaś was the rector of the University of Silesia in the years 2008-2016, he is a member of the board of the European University Association, vice-chairman of the Main Council of Science and Higher Education and the president of the board of the Association “Pro Silesia” Business – Science – Local Government.
