Rotunda in the center of Warsaw with an innovative plant control system iPlant

29.05.2018

According to the Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW), Prof. Hazem M. Kalaji of SGGW has developed a remote system iPlant for monitoring the physiological state of plants. It was created to monitor the condition of plants adorning the walls of the revitalized Rotunda Bank building in the center of Warsaw.

The remote plant monitoring system is based on non-invasive measurement of chlorophyll fluorescence. As Dr Hazem M. Kalaji explains “plants change the fluorescence all the time informing about the stress they are exposed to. This information can be read using a special device – flourymeter. When problems arise, the sent signals are different from the optimal values. Thanks to the fact that we measure them, we find out that the plant is in bad condition”.
