Scientist of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology becomes the finalist of the 19th Polityka Science Awards

Dr Eng. Mariusz Ptak from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology became a finalist of the 19th Political Science Awards in the “Technical Sciences” category. The winners will be announced on October 20 during a gala in Warsaw.

Dr Eng. Mariusz Ptak works in the Department of Machine Design and Testing at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology. In his research work he deals with numerical simulations, biomechanics of head injuries, reconstruction of road accidents and safety of pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists.

The results of his research will include three numerical models of the brain for a child, an adult and an elderly person, which in the future can be helped, for example, by companies that produce helmets to better protect.

The scientific awards of the Polityka weekly journal are awarded in five conventional categories: humanities, social sciences, exact sciences, technical sciences and life sciences. In total, the weekly Polityka has already awarded over 300 people.
