Scientists of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology receive grants for their Polish-Chinese projects

The National Science Center announced the results of the first Sheng competition for the implementation of Polish-Chinese research projects. The laureates are two scientists from the Wrocław University of Science and Technology who will receive over PLN 3 million for their research.

Prof. Krzysztof Abramski from the electronics department received funding for his project “Low-loss anti-resonance fibers for the mid-infrared range – research on the possibilities of use in gas lasers and laser gas detection”. Dr Eng. Dominika Wawrzyńczyk from the chemical department will study “Combination conversion of photon energy in nanoparticles doped with lanthanide ions for applications in biology and medicine”.

The competition enabled to obtain funds for basic research in the area of life sciences, technical sciences and selected disciplines of social sciences. The projects will be implemented in Poland and China, each of them will be supervised by two managers: one on the Chinese and the other on the Polish side.
