Silesian University of Technology implementing the international BIOTRAFO project

13.07.2018

The Silesian University of Technology will cooperate with 13 research organizations from around the world in the BIOTRAFO project concerning the influence of temperature on the construction of power transformers. The project coordinator is the Cantabrian University of Santander in Spain.

In the BIOTRAFO project, researchers will analyze the influence of temperature on power transformer constructions in which biodegradable esters are used as cooling fluids. Environmental aspects and fire risks related to the use of these factors will also be examined.
Money for research is allocated within the Horizon 2020 program as part of the Research and Innovation Staff Exchange funding scheme. The project manager is Prof. Jacek Smołka from the Institute of Thermal Technology of the Faculty of Environmental Engineering and Power Engineering at the University of Technology.
