Students from China to participate in the summer school of ceramics conservation at the Nicolaus Copernicus University

The Faculty of Fine Arts of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń launches the first summer school of ceramic preservation. Chinese Beijing Union University students attend lectures on art history, European ceramics, materials science, research methods and basic issues of material destruction.

In the summer program of the school there are also exercises for Chinese students to learn the basic methodology of conservation procedures: purification, desalination, disinfection, strengthening, filling up of cavities and enamel. They will also be able to test their skills in practice by carrying out conservation work on various original ceramic objects.

At the weekends, classes in the form of case studies in Toruń and Gdańsk, as well as visits to monuments and museums, participation in concerts, exhibitions and outdoor events are planned.
