Wroclaw scientists from the MOCOS group teach on a coronavirus pandemic in Poland

08.05.2020

The main recommendations of scientists from the MOCOS team include limiting people-to-people contacts, faster verification of the contacts of infected people, more testing patients with mild symptoms of coronavirus.

The MOCOS Wrocław group deals with risk analysis, creates forecasts, as well as recommendations on how to combat COVID-19. The group was founded by Prof. Tyll Krüger from the Wrocław University of Science and Technology, dealing with mathematical modeling in medicine and biology. The team consists of scientists from the Wrocław Technology and Medical Universities as well as experts from Nokia Wrocław, EY GDS Poland and MicroscopeIT.

The MOCOS scientists have created an advanced mathematical model that allows to assess the current rate of spread of the virus and indicate at what stage the epidemic is. The model also allows assessing the level of needed limitation of interpersonal contacts and whether this is sufficient to defeat COVID-19.
