Wroclaw University of Science and Technology receive grants to fight COVID-19

Prof. Marcin Drąg and Dr Eng. Łukasz Berlicki from the chemical faculty of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology will receive over two million PLN for their research on COVID-19.

The money is allocated by the National Science Center as part of a competition for scientists working on understanding the mechanism of SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, as well as improving diagnostic tests, searching for new drugs, and mitigating the social effects of a pandemic.

Professor Marcin Drąg received almost PLN 1.6 million for the project “Retargeting of known drugs for proteases participating in the development of COVID-19 disease”. Dr Eng. Łukasz Berlicki received a grant of 465 thousand PLN for the project “Inhibitors of interaction of human ACE2 and S protein with SARS-CoV-2 based on peptide foldamers”.
