The 17th century liber amicorum of Melchior Lucas from 1665, being a Polish loss of war, returned to Poland. The manuscript comes from the collections of the former City Library in Wrocław, whose heir is currently the University Library.
The liber of amicorum was put up for sale in April 2018 at the Kiefer auction house in Germany. The Ministry of Culture and National Heritage after the initial verification of the object immediately requested the owner of the auction house to stop the sale of the manuscript.
The director of the library asked the Department of Restitution of Cultural Property, functioning within the Department of Cultural Heritage Abroad and War Loss of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage that successfully carried out the process of restitution of the manuscript.
The recovered liber of amicorum was created in the 17th century. It was a part of the collections of Thomas Rehdiger (1540-1576), gathered at the church of St. Elisabeth in Wroclaw.
