On 21-22 June 2023, the 1st International Scientific Conference and Workshop on “Medicine of the Battlefield” took place in Zamość. The event was organised by the Zamość Academy Development Foundation and the Department of Nursing and the Medical Simulation Centre of the Zamość Academy.

During the conference, issues of providing first medical aid to the injured (wounded) in combat conditions were discussed and participants were familiarised with new threats related to, among other things, terrorist attacks and their consequences.

Participants at the event stressed that every citizen could find themselves in a danger zone, where the basis is not only evacuation, but also the ability to self-help or help a person in a life-threatening condition.

The conference aimed to integrate different professional groups, where aspects of tactical rescue can be fully utilised and applied to civil rescue and first aid.
