The Gruber Foundation, operating at Yale University in the US, has granted its prestigious prize to the cosmology team Planck satellite. One of the leaders of this team is Prof. Krzysztof Górski from the Astronomical Observatory of the University of Warsaw.
Professor Krzysztof Górski participated in studies on cosmic background radiation since the early 1990s. In the period 1993-1996 he was a member of the COBE satellite team, which for the first time measured the anisotropy of the cosmic background radiation (Gruber and Nobel Prize in 2006). Since 1996, Prof. Górski has been directly involved in the work in the Planck team.
