The Senate adopted a resolution establishing 2020 as the Year of Physics. Its purpose is “to honor Polish physicists and their achievements, as well as to appreciate the civilizational significance of this field of science.”
The resolution of the upper house of the Polish parliament states that “The Senate of the Republic of Poland is celebrating 2020 as the Year of Physics, the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Polish Physical Society. At the same time, the Senate would like to emphasize the merits of Polish physicists for world science and recall the extraordinary development of Polish physics that took place after Poland regained independence in 1918”.
Senators emphasized that they want the “Year of Physics to bring even greater recognition in our society to the role of science, in particular physics and its contribution to the development of the economy and impact on our daily lives. Physics is an extremely interesting experimental science, translates into an increase in skills in this area for subsequent generations. The scientific and professional activity undertaken in this area is particularly important during the construction of the information society and knowledge-based economy.”
