The Arboretum in Wojsławice – a branch of the Botanical Garden of the University of Wroclaw celebrates its 30th birthday. There are over 12,000 plants growing there on 62 hectares of the park.
Wojsławice is located 50 km from Wrocław in the protected landscape area of the Strzelińsko-Niemczańskie Hills. The park was founded there in 1811 by the families von Prittwitz and von Aulock. In 1880, Fritz von Oheimb bought the property in Wojsławice. This expert on plants and climatic conditions revived the area and created a park that already in his lifetime enjoyed fame and recognition. His son Arno continued the works until 1946.
After World War II, the park was opened to the public only in 1962. In 1988, it became the first branch of the Wrocław Botanical Garden in history. The Arboretum has the status of “Display Garden AHS” – the show garden of the American Daylily Association. Currently, work is underway to create the Polish Millennium Garden, presenting, achievements of Polish breeders.
