The Gdansk University of Technology (PG) is one of the few universities in Poland to open its own laboratory for 5G networks and services. This provides new opportunities for researchers and companies to test new solutions here.
The launch of the 5G network at PG is the result of the completed project “National laboratory of 5G networks and services with the environment: PL-5G’, which was carried out in a consortium with Warsaw University of Technology, AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow, the Institute of Communications – National Research Institute, Wrocław University of Science and Technology, and the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences – Poznań Supercomputing and Networking Centre.
“I am opening with joy a new laboratory at the university today. This is because a very important place has been created, where we have access to state-of-the-art methods of testing communications using very high frequencies. This is the future for computer science and digitisation”, said the Rector of PG, Prof. Krzysztof Wilde, during the opening ceremony.
