The 8th European Mammalogical Congress will last in Warsaw until September 27, 2019. The event began on September 23 and is devoted to the ecology and protection of mammals in a changing world. The congress is organized by the Mammal Biology Institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN) and the Committee on Environmental and Evolutionary Biology of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
Invited plenary lecturers of the Congress include: Dr. Francesca Cagnacci from Italy, dealing with the migration of mammals on a large spatial scale, Nils Chr. Stenseth from Norway, investigating the role of wild mammals in the spread of pathogens dangerous for humans, Heikki Henttonen from Finland, conducting works in ecology and parasitology, Dr Matthew Kauffman from the United States, who is looking for causes and patterns of migration of ungulate mammals, and Marek Konarzewski from Poland, specializing in research on ecophysiology and evolutionary ecology.
The European Mammalogical Congress is held every four years. It involves scientists studying various aspects of mammalian biology, including in the field of evolutionary biology, ecology, behavioral biology and genetics.
