Professor Michał Piórka from the Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology of the Warsaw University of Technology (PW) and Yoann Fouquet, Dritan Nace and Michael Poss received the Best Paper Award for the years 2016-2018, granted by the international INFORMS Association.

The scientists from the Warsaw University of Technology received the award for their article “Optimizing Flow Thinning Protection in Multicommodity Networks with Variable Link Capacity”, published in the journal Operations Research in 2016.

The awarded work concerns the use of robust optimization techniques for the design of wireless telecommunications networks in which the available bandwidths are subject to constant fluctuations caused by adverse weather conditions.
