The University of Opole is building the International Research and Development Center for Agriculture and Agricultural and Food Industry. The facility will operate in two places – at the campus of the university in Opole and in near Prószków – where the Royal Academy of Sciences operated at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.
In the Prószków, the University launches laboratory performing paid research in the field of toxicology, ecotoxicology, soil science and precision agriculture. There will also be educational plots, paths and a special space for events related to agriculture, e.g. fairs. The research center will be established In Opole, in the building of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Technology.
The project costs over PLN 42 million. PLN 32 million are granted from the Regional Operational Program, 10 million is own contribution of the University, the local governments and Opole industry. The construction starts in spring, the Center will be ready by the end of 2019 to start its research activities in 2020.
